linking

linking

This white box is actually an included page. The page is just a div tag floated left.

To include a page, rather than link to it, use double-pipes instead of single pipes. (a single pipe in autolink mode).

That enables you to have one bit of content at several places on your site, and only to edit it in one place

You can set your website up to handle links in two ways.

  • explicit linking is as easy as can be
  • autolinking intelligently guesses where you want your links to be, and is even easier

explicit linking

To link to page, you just write its name using the right capitals and lower case, and surround the name by a vertical bar symbol like this |. This method is good for more serious websites.

You link to pictures and attachments in exactly the same way. The files available to you are listed underneath the edit pane. At the point you want to include a picture or file attachment in the page, you just write the filename and surround it with vertical bar characters.

graduate littlecyclops NEW! You can make the picture sit on the left or the right of the page by putting an asterix to the immediate left or right of the link so this paragraph starts with |graduate littlecyclops.jpg|*

and other file formats are displayed with an icon like this:
pdf icon sample.pdf(3 KB)

If you change the name of a page using a field at the top of the edit page, all the links to it will be changed too.

Auto linking

When the server is making the web page it checks to see if your page contains any linkable words or phrases (with or without capitals, it doesn't mind), then it converts them to links automatically! The disadvantage of this is that you might have some links that you didn't intend.

On the configure page, you can switch between the two modes if you have permission. This website is in explicit mode, so if you edit this page, you will see the links do have pipe symbols. If you want to use a pipe a symbol in the text, then you can use <!--PIPE-->

Linking to Attachments

It's just the same to link to attached documents as it is to pages. IF you link to a picture though, Lemon Squeezy will display the picture for you (at its actual size). Each page has its own space for storing attachments, and there is a shared space too. If you want to link to attachments belonging to other pages, then at the moment you need to put the html like this: <img src="pages/pagename/filename"> using FCK's Source mode.

anchors within the page

Every time Lemon Squeezy encounters a heading, it marks it so you can link to it. Then, by writing the name of the page, hash (#)and the heading in pipe symbols, you can link to a part of a page.
Clicking this will jump the the above heading to the top of the screen (as far as possible, given the height of the page), explicit linking

N.B.This doesn't work in autolink mode so far

link checking

since non-existent pages in any wiki are handled merely as pages not written yet, there is no possibility of a broken link as such. However mistyped urls to other websites can be checked every time you publish your pages into html.

Of the links below, some of them are deliberately broken. These are used to test this function whenever this site is published phpeace.qwarx.com/lemonsqueezy/ phpeace.qwarx.com/lemonsqueezy/index.php phpeace.qwax.com/ phpeace.qwarx.com/lemonsqueegy
